Ray V. Furstenau (Acting)

The Executive Director for Operations (EDO) is the Chief Operational Officer of the agency and is authorized and directed to discharge all regulatory and administrative functions necessary for the day-to-day operations of the agency. The EDO is responsible for supervising, directing, coordinating, and approving activities within the Office of the Executive Director for Operations (OEDO) and the offices that report to the EDO. This includes supervising and coordinating policy development, agency operational activities, and implementation of Commission policy directives.


Deputy Executive Director for Reactor and Preparedness Programs

Scott A. Morris

The Deputy Executive Director for Reactor and Preparedness Programs executes OEDO responsibility for nuclear reactor regulation, nuclear reactor licensing, nuclear security and incident response, and regional operations, except nuclear material and nuclear waste safety and safeguards activities. Provides oversight across agency lines of authority for all NRC policies and activities related to reactor safety and homeland protection and preparedness. Is responsible for matters dealing with the homeland security aspects of physical and personnel security, information security, information technology security, safeguards, emergency response, and threat and vulnerability assessment.


Deputy Executive Director for Materials, Waste, Research, State, Tribal, Compliance, Administration, and Human Capital Programs

The Deputy Executive Director for Materials, Waste, Research, State, Tribal, Compliance, Administration, and Human Capital Programs executes OEDO responsibility for research, nuclear material, and nuclear waste safety and safeguards programs, including the portion of regional operations dealing with the Office of Nuclear Materials Safety and Safeguards activities, States and Indian Tribes, and oversight of enforcement and investigation functions, and rulemaking. Is responsible for corporate services, including human resources, agency space planning and facilities management, personnel and facility security, acquisition management, and centralized administrative services.


Associate Director for Operations

Jody C. Martin (Acting)

The Associate Director for Operations (ADO) assists the EDO and Deputy EDOs in the overall planning, management, control, and coordination of the operational and administrative activities of the agency. Also serves as the agency's Performance Improvement Officer, responsible for supporting the EDO, as Chief Operating Officer, in leading performance improvement efforts across the agency; the OEDO liaison with the Government Accountability Office and the Office of the Inspector General; and the agency's Evaluation Officer, overseeing program evaluations and other evidence-building activities performed under the Foundations for Evidence-Based Policymaking Act of 2018 (Evidence Act).
